A letter from Mike:

Throughout the history of our nation and our world, there are a few basic economic principles that have stood the test of time. One of the most basic principles is the fact that when one set of industry leaders leads us in to a bad economic time, another set of industry leaders will lead us out. Our nation is ready again to look to the future, to shake off the dust of complacency, doubt and fear about what tomorrow will bring. As we look to the future, some of the guesswork has been removed, the industries that will lead us out of this tough economic time have already been spelled out. And at the top of the list, with the potential to completely transform our economic landscape, awaits the green job industry, still in its’ infancy, and waiting patiently to come alive and thrive as the centerpiece for job creation, industry competition, and economic stability. Green jobs are knocking on every door in the house, our policy makers and elected officials will soon open the door to let them in, and we welcome them with open arms.

The United States of America is poised once more for rightfully taking back our place as the world’s leader in innovation and ingenuity. In the coming years, we expect to see a level playing field for renewable energy, green building, efficient transportation and all aspects of industry that create green jobs. By creating a market where businesses and individuals are incentivized to produce and improve, the United States is giving the unmatchable, one of a kind, American competitive spirit a chance to come alive and thrive. This alone will be the fuel to return us once more as leaders of the world, this time our leadership will bring green jobs, energy independence and environmental stewardship.

In recent years, the United States has been humbled. We can and will use this lesson to our advantage. We will now look more carefully at the solutions we implement, and we will pay close attention to learn from the mistakes and successes of those who have taken steps before us. But the American zeal to succeed and be the best still beats in all of our hearts. Like one cultural icon, Rocky Balboa, quitting just isn’t in our language, and it is in moments of our greatest crisis when we find a new breath of resolve. The collective, one of a kind forces of American innovation, pride, desire and achievement come together as we rise up and meet the challenge ahead, embracing new industry and technology as a vehicle with which to travel.

Green jobs and a clean, renewable energy industry are an inevitability in the United States. What is most important next is how we achieve this future that we have embraced. I am someone who has fought long and hard to bring the renewable energy industry to the State of Florida. I will continue this fight because I believe that Florida, being the Sunshine State, has the ability to set the blueprint and create the roadmap for the rest of the country to follow with regard to widespread implementation of Renewable Energy. Although Renewable Energy is only a part of the green jobs economy, I believe that it is a large and important part, and with the help of advocates in all sectors of the green economy, we will see millions upon millions of jobs created over the next decade.
